Jews Gays are a cancer

That is, according to Sally Kern, an Oklahoma state Representative.

Here's my transcript of Kern's hate speech:
The homosexual agenda is destroying this nation. 'Kay? It's just a fact. Not everybody's lifestyle is equal, just like not all religions are equal. Y'know? The very fact that I'm talking to you like this here today puts me in jeopardy. Okay? Uh.... And I'm not anti-, I'm not gay-bashing, but according to God's word that is not the right kind of lifestyle. It has deadly consequences for those people involved in it, they have more suicides, uh, and they're more discouraged, there's more illness, they're have--lifespans are shorter. Y'know? It's, it's not a lifestyle that is good for this nation! As a matter of fact, studies show that no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than, you know, a few decades. So it's the death knell of this country. I-I honestly think it's the biggest threat even--that our nation has, even more so than terrorism. Or Islam, which I think is a big threat. 'Kay? 'Cause what's happening now, they're going after, uh, in, in schools. Two year-olds! You know why they're trying to get early childhood education? They want to get our young children into the government schools so they can indoctrinate them! I taught school for close to twenty years, and we're not teaching facts and knowledge anymore folks, we're teaching indoctrination. Okay? And they're going after our young children, as young as two years of age, to try to teach them that the homole--homosexual lifestyle is the acceptable lifestyle. Y'know, gays are infiltrating city councils. Did you know--Eureka Springs, anybody been there, the Passion play? 'Kay, have you heard that the city council of Eureka Springs is now controlled by gays? 'Kay. There are some others, uh... Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Tacoma (?), Maryland; Mensington (?), Maryland; in Vermont, Oregon, West Palm Beach, Florida, and a lot of other places in Florida. What's happening, and they are winning elections. One of the things I did with in our legislature, I tried to enter [unrecognizable--abusive?] bill last year, that would notify parents, uh... schools had to let parents know what clubs their students were involved in. And the reason I did that bill, primarily, was this: we have the Gay/Straight Alliance coming into our schools. Kids are getting involved in these groups, their lives are being ruined, their parents don't know about it! So I introduced a bill that said, you have to notify all clubs and things. And one of my colleagues said, "Well, you know we don't have a gay problem in my county. So that's why I'm voting against that bill." Well you know what? To me that is so dumb. If you've got... cancer or something in your little toe, do you say, "Well, I’m just gonna forget about it, 'cause the rest of you is fine"? It spreads! Okay? And this, this stuff is deadly and it's spreading and it will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation.

Kern made these comments in a private setting before fellow Republicans. When this video was put out, she defended herself and attacked the person who taped it:
In an exclusive interview with News9.com about the statements made in the leaked speech, Kern refused to apologize for her words or her views on homosexuality. "What I'm saying, I believe in," she says. "There are indisputable facts that show its a deadly lifestyle... What is wrong with me, as an American, exercising my free speech rights?"

Kern said no one should be suprised by her views on homosexuality, saying in the interview with News9.com that she's made similar statements in the past. However, Kern did feel whomever was responsible for the speech being recorded and posted should have spoken up. "Shame on the person who didn't have the courage to come and say, 'I'm going to tape you and put it out on YouTube.'"

No, there are no such facts saying that it's a "deadly lifestyle", because it's not a lifestyle at all. And is anyone trying to prevent you from exercising your right to free speech? I doubt it. We're countering your hate speech with our own.

She also put out an official statement earlier today:
A vigorous debate on an issue is not 'hate speech' – it's free speech. I have made clear my opposition to the agenda of homosexual activists, but I have never endorsed or supported any hateful action targeting individuals on the other side of this debate and never will. The fact that many gay rights activists claim anyone opposing their agenda is engaging in 'hate speech' says more about them than me.

What completely deluded, utter bullshit. You weren't engaging in vigorous debate, you were engaging in gay-bashing. You said that gays were indoctrinating children and would destroy the country. You likened gays to cancer. You spouted off bullshit facts that have no basis so that you could pretend you had motivations other than pure, unadulterated bigotry. You were engaged in nothing but hate speech.

Although strangely enough, despite being so fucking proud of her venomous hatred, she earlier was trying to weasel out of it by saying that her words were taken out of context:
On Monday, Kern said her comments were edited and taken out of context. Kern said they were directed at wealthy, politically active homosexuals who are contributing money to gay and lesbian candidates for public office in Oklahoma and other states.

"I was talking about an agenda. I was not talking about individuals," said Kern, the wife of a Baptist minister. "They have the right to choose that lifestyle. They do not have the right to force it down our throat.

"I have never said hate speech against anybody. I would never do that."

Except of course against gays and Muslims. Who by simply trying to live their lives without outside interference or discrimination are somehow "forc[ing] it down [her] throat."

What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Awesome blog. I've gotten so used to news-media-discourse that it's a surprise when you just say things how they are. A nice, refreshing surprise. You rock.

Why thank you.

Although you'll get the same reaction from a lot of other blogs. Except for those ones that agree with her. *shudder*

OK you don't like what she said. Your perogative because we live in a country where you are able to voice your opinion. And as far as a "nice refreshing surprise" Your IQ is showing in your vocabulary. Everyone has a right to speak their own opinion. Whether YOU agree with it or not.

Your IQ is showing in your vocabulary.
Here's a tip: when trying to mock someone's IQ because of their vocabulary, don't misspell "prerogative."

Everyone has a right to speak their own opinion. Whether YOU agree with it or not.
And? Did I anywhere even hint that she did not have the right to speak? Did I even once suggest that there be a law to silence her? No, I did not! She has the right to speak, and I have the right to point out that she is a spiteful, virulent bigot by pointing to the content of her speech.

Really, the only ones trying to silence anybody are people like you and Representative Kern, who want gay people and gay-friendly people to shut up and go back into the closet.

Well, here's some free speech for you: fuck you, asshole.

Anonymous,

First, posting that tripe as "anonymous" reveals your cowardice to stand for much of anything.

Second, merely using ad hominem does not help your case at all - since you are not actually building one.

Third, it is one thing to voice an opinion, it is another to voice an opinion like that in the way she did when you are 1) representing people and 2) have the power to enact legislation that is pursuant to those views.

If a gay person has no social legitimacy, and the laws she wants enforce that level of discrimination, how is what she said not more than just "a point of view"?

While I agree with the rest of your comment, Drew, and thank you for commenting, I've never quite understood the virulence directed towards people who make anonymous comments. The internet is very anonymous--I myself do not give my real name. I have no real objection to people who would like to remain anonymous when commenting.
