"Lament for a Young Musician"

Madeleine L'Engle has passed away. Thanks to filkertom for letting me know.

This is awfully depressing. L'Engle is one of my favorite authors--for a long period of time I bought as many of her books as I could find.

And so from her book Troubling a Star:
The music is stilled. No sound
Of melody fills the fearsom air.
No chord, no harmony is found.
The sky is high and fair

Taunting our hearts. The price
Of death is high. Tears chilled
By grief are like primordial ice.
The melody is stilled, is stilled.
