The Republican presidential candidates: campaigning on ignorance

Transcript of the Republican debate. Some highlights:

Huckabee, McCain, and Brownback on evolution. This includes Huckabee refusing to deny the possibility of Biblical literalism, including a six-day creation and 6,000-year old Earth. He also quipped "[Y]ou know, if anybody wants to believe that they are the descendants of a primate, they are certainly welcome to do it. I don't know how far they will march that back."

Giuliani seems to think that we couldn't have defeated the terrorists without deposing Saddam Hussein, despite no ties whatever between Hussein and al Qaida. And he also claims that "Iran is not 10 years away from nuclear weapons."

Mitt Romney claims that Saddam didn't let inspectors into Iraq, and that's why we had to go to war. Which is a complete lie, but maybe he's just trying to follow in Fearless Leader's footsteps.
